Abstract

This study aims at examining the assessment tools used on Blackboard from the perceptions of students and faculty members. For this purpose, two questionnaires were designed and applied to 102 English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students and 31 faculty members to measure their perceptions of the assessment tools on Blackboard, the self-efficacy of the EFL students and faculty members in using Blackboard assessment tools, and the challenges they face during the process. Results have shown that most faculty members and students prefer conducting assessment on Blackboard. Results also revealed that faculty members are aware of the assessment tools on Blackboard and feel confident when using them. Besides, both students and faculty members have positive attitudes toward the effectiveness of the assessment tools on Blackboard. However, they believe that there are some challenges related to technical issues, and some EFL students have mentioned that they face difficulties related to the essay tests on Blackboard.
