Sustainable development is the central paradigm in modern urban planning, exemplified by the Nusantara Capital City in Indonesia, which incorporates the forest city concept that combines green technology and ecological sustainability. However, the ideological representation of this concept in digital media remains a relatively understudied area. This study examines how Indonesia’s digital media portrays forest cities in the context of IKN's development. It employs an ecolinguistic approach that combines mixed-methods analysis, including critical discourse analysis of news from five national media outlets and public surveys using the Likert scale. The results of this study show that media supporting government policies use positive word choices, such as "sustainable forest cities," "conservation," "smart forest cities," and "green energy." In contrast, media opposing government policies use specific terms to describe ecological impacts, including "deforestation," "climate change," and "social conflicts." The choice of the lexicon in news writing reflects the ideology of each media outlet. The results of the public survey indicated that the development of the IKN will positively impact economic development and social welfare; however, environmental concerns remain. This research contributes to the expansion of ecolinguistic studies and the development of government communication strategies.
