This study examines teachers’ perspectives regarding the relevance of the English language skills for developing leadership in the Saudi higher education context for the energy and industrial sectors. The data was collected using structured questionnaire based on quantitative method from 40 ESP instructors through a structured 25-item questionnaire covering leadership development, teaching practices, skill development, challenges and career readiness. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as mean scores and coefficients of variance. The results indicated that teachers had a strong belief in the contribution of English language teaching to the development of leadership qualities, communication skills, critical thinking, employability and global competitiveness. Interactive ESP activities including presentations, discussions and negotiations were seen as useful for developing leadership skills. However, the study indicated a few obstacles such as students’ lack of English proficiency, unavailability of industry-specific teaching materials, lack of institutional support, time limitations and the need for more teacher training. The study suggests that ESP-based English instruction plays a vital role in preparing students for leadership and professional achievement in energy and industrial sectors, especially, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
